A CALL FOR PROTECTION

As knife crime becomes more prevalent, making headlines world wide, the need for protective clothing for front line operatives and lone workers is more important than ever before.

In recent months more and more unprovoked attacks on workers in all industries have been reported, with a noticeable increase of violence towards nurses, midwives, housing officers, security professionals and taxi drivers.

With trade unions and public sector workers calling for extra protection for themselves and members, North Yorkshire based protective equipment company ASEO has developed a new, innovative product to ultimately save lives.

The Strongest Slash Resistant Clothing on the Market

slash resistant tshirt

The company, who currently supply stab proof vests to the NHS, Councils and other public organisations, are set to launch their new slash resistant garments, at a London hotel on the 18th May.  The T-shirt is made from a material called Spectra®, which is pound for pound fifteen times stronger than steel and 40% stronger than Kevlar, a fabric used by competitors to produce slash resistant clothing.

Unlike products containing Kevlar, the garments can be worn directly on to the skin, and have an extremely high strength to weight ratio ensuring the garment is comfortable, with a high level of breathability.

Robert Kaiser, Managing Director of ASEO comments:

“My company was founded on the belief that all workers in any sector should feel safe at work, due to the recent growth in anti-social behaviour and knife culture unfortunately this is not the case for many people.  So for me the next best thing is ensuring workers are protected in case they faced with a violent situation, this is why ASEO is constantly developing new products that offer protection and peace of mind.

The slash resistant T-shirts we have produced are ideal for social workers, nurses and midwives as they are discreet and can be worn under a uniform and equally as suitable for housing officers or taxi drivers and can be worn as part of a uniform with a company logo printed on the front.  I believe all workers that operate on a face to face level, that are at risk of potential attacks should be given some form of protection.”

The product launch will see heads of unison, housing companies, national newspapers, health and safety managers from Government bodies and organisations attending, and should hopefully highlight the need for protective equipment for those at risk.

Janette Arnold, Labour Assembly Member, said:  “I was a nurse for many years, and a regional director of services for the Royal College of Nursing where I was responsible for the recruitment and training of work based health and safety representatives.  So I know from first hand experience just how important protective clothing is and I am so pleased ASEO is producing products to protect workers.”
