Community Safety Wardens Attacked
Some of Londonderry's new community safety wardens were attacked before the scheme was officially launched, the BBC has learned.
Ten wardens were appointed last month to tackle anti-social behaviour, but some had bottles and stones thrown at them in the Bogside.
Adele Dunne, a community worker in Clooney, said her estate would welcome them but other areas would not.
"Some people may perceive that the community safety wardens are touts."
"They do wear stab-proof vests, but they are not the police, and if that's the situation they are in, Derry City Council need to take responsibility for their workers' health and safety."
There are four wardens in Rosemount. A further six are to be employed to look after other areas of the city, including the Bogside, Brandywell, Creggan, the Fountain, Hazelbank, Ballymagroarty, the Glen, Greater Shantallow, and much of the Waterside.
